Microsoft partner AvePoint has established a new SG$100 million ($72 million) international research and development (R&D) hub in Singapore, which will be supported by Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) and support local talent.
The new facility is located in Galaxis, One North, and is one of several AvePoint R&D centres around the world. The R&D facility will help AvePoint to improve global cloud resilience for its customers, as well as support data sovereignty, multi-cloud security and regional businesses at a local level. It will also help to advance the company’s digital infrastructure and global trade connectivity.
AvePoint will hire and train more than 500 digital professionals at the new hub by 2026, focusing on preparing people for roles such as business analysts, data scientists, software architects and Microsoft-certified engineers.
The company will continue to address hybrid work collaboration, security, responsible use of artificial intelligence, blended learning and well-being.
AvePoint executives held an opening ceremony on 26 August 2022 with Gan Kim Yong, the minister for trade and industry in Singapore, present.
“AvePoint has worked closely with the Singapore government, education and enterprise organisations to advance our digital transformation efforts over the last 13 years, so it was a privilege to have our key partners and investors celebrate this moment with us,” said Dr Tianyi Jiang, co-founder and CEO at AvePoint. “Establishing our international R&D Hub and Asia headquarters in Singapore reflects both the historical success we’ve had with valued partners, including Microsoft, as well as the promise we see in this country and the broader Asia-Pacific region. It is a critical step in advancing our key growth vector to continue our international expansion.”
“AvePoint’s R&D and product capabilities will contribute to meeting global demand for business-to-business software-as-a-service solutions from Singapore,” said Chan Ih Ming, senior vice president of DISG. “This is a testament to Singapore’s strong tech ecosystem for talent, business and innovation. We look forward to partnering with AvePoint to support digital transformation for enterprises through innovative and purpose-driven technologies.”
