Choosing the right communications devices for modern workspaces

Frontline and mobile workers need intuitive, secure communication devices that adapt to evolving working environments, says Espen Løberg of Cisco

For every device we build, we ask the same question: will this make connecting with another person feel more natural, or will it get in the way?

That question guided everything we announced at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2026, held in Barcelona, Spain, on 3-6 February 2026.

Workspaces are no longer defined by size or title. A desk can become a meeting room. A huddle space can facilitate fast, meaningful decisions. Large rooms should scale without turning into complex audio-visual (AV) projects. Devices should be easy to deploy, manage and secure.

We have introduced devices that reflect this thinking. The Cisco Room Kit Pro G2 is designed for high‑impact spaces where complexity has been the norm. With native support for Microsoft Teams Rooms and built for the Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform, the Room Kit Pro G2 fits naturally into Teams environments while giving IT teams the performance, security and visibility they expect from Cisco. Meanwhile, the new Cisco Desk Pro G2 has dual 4K cameras that keep people in frame automatically, and one‑cable docking simplifies setup to a single step.

The third device is Cisco Wireless Phone 9821, which addresses a different collaboration challenge. Frontline and mobile workers need communication that moves with them through demanding environments like hospitals, factories and retail floors. The 9821 delivers secure, reliable calling over Wi‑Fi, integrates with existing Cisco communications platforms and is built for shared use across shifts. For customers, it extends the same managed, enterprise‑grade calling to the people who keep operations running.

What connects these devices is a shared platform approach. They are built to work across collaboration services, managed centrally through Webex Control Hub, and secured from the device to the network.

At ISE, we focused on progress that customers can feel – devices that adapt to how work happens today and are ready for what comes next. As workspaces continue to evolve, our commitment remains constant: technology that makes connecting feel natural and easy.
