At the preview event, Microsoft’s Christoph Berlin spoke about the firm’s manufacturing vision
Hannover Messe 2020 will take an active role in guiding the future of manufacturing by promoting effective ways to leverage data, the benefits of 5G and encouraging climate protection this April.
“The way we live, produce things and work is undergoing extremely rapid change,” said Jochen Köckler, CEO of Deutsche Messe, which organises Hannover Messe. “The manufacturing industry is in the driver's seat. At Hannover Messe 2020, some 5,500 exhibiting companies will show how transformation can be positive, and how change can spark growth and progress.”
According to a recent press release from Hannover Messe, the volume of data generated in industrial production is growing exponentially, and with the internet of things (IoT), machines are increasingly able to share insights without human intervention. “At Hannover Messe, we show how machines, production plants and intralogistics processes can be transitioned to the digital world,” said Köckler. “If you don't make this transition, then sooner or later you will be left behind by your competitors.”
To help attendees combat this, the event will feature presentations of software solutions for flexible manufacturing by companies such as Microsoft. It will also include the 5G testbed infrastructure for the second year, giving network equipment providers the opportunity to demonstrate new functionalities.
With climate protection currently a key topic in all industries, Hannover Messe will explore how innovative technologies could not only improve manufacturing sustainability, but also grow business. The event’s Hydrogen + Fuel Cells EUROPE showcase and e-mobility solutions will further promote the industry’s alternative energy options.
