Satya Nadella, chairman and CEO of Microsoft, says that Microsoft is preparing to launch a “super app” later this year. The announcement was made during Microsoft’s financial year earnings call with Nadella saying that Copilot’s chat, coding and agentic features will be unified into a single app.
“Copilot is evolving rapidly from chat to Cowork to Autopilots,” said Nadella. “We now have chat, Cowork, autopilot, code all coming to essentially, what is going to become this flagship ‘Super App’ that various roles can use.”
The app aims to provide a consistent experience for those using Microsoft’s AI stack – especially those that use Copilot for writing, GitHub Copilot for code and another agent tool for other work. It also means developers using Copilot can move between chat function, coding assistance and automated workflows without needing to change products.
Before the app can be scaled across enterprise organisations, Microsoft will provide clarification on whether consumer and commercial data will remain separated within the same app, how existing Microsoft 365 Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Purview and Entra policies will carry into agent-driven actions, which Copilot capabilities are included with current licenses, and where the application will first be made available.
