Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division is helping manufacturing firms get more predictable results from their factories by combining its WORKNC software with its Tool Library, a cloud-based archive of verified cutting tools.
The integration aims to save machinists time by reducing the need to recreate tool setups, manage scattered data, or rely on knowledge passed between shifts.
“Reliable tooling information is one of the most powerful levers for reducing programming time and eliminating variability,” said Steffen Dilger, president of Hexagon’s Production Software Division. “As manufacturers adopt more advanced automation and AI-assisted programming, centralised and high-quality tool data will play an increasingly critical role. Our focus is on removing workflow bottlenecks and connecting the full manufacturing toolkit.”
The Tool Library gives WORKNC users instant access to verified cutting-tool data from partners such as Kennametal, MachiningCloud, Sandvik Coromant and ToolsUnited. Programmers can import this information directly into their software without re-entering data or rebuilding models.
By using the Tool Library, frontline workers can create accurate digital models of their tools and assemblies, apply cutting settings for different materials, and share standardised tool definitions across teams. The update is designed to help manufacturers achieve more consistent results, improve production efficiency and reduce errors.
