Kyndryl has extended its partnership with car rental firm Hertz in a five-year deal focused on modernising Hertz’s IT systems and improving the customer experience.
Under the agreement, Kyndryl will help Hertz upgrade the behind-the-scenes technology that keeps its global business running. This includes moving older, mainframe-based systems to the cloud, simplifying and connecting different IT platforms, and using AI-driven automation so daily operations run more smoothly.

The aim is to make Hertz’s systems faster, more reliable and easier to manage, enabling staff to make decisions quickly and reduce disruption caused by outdates or fragmented technology. In practical terms, this should support a smoother rental process for customers, from booking to vehicle return.
“As we continue to transform every part of our business, advancing our systems and streamlining critical processes with Kyndryl will allow us to operate with greater speed and efficiency, which will ultimately deliver an even better experience for our customers,” said Chris Berg, chief administrative officer at Hertz.
