Volksbank, a financial services provider that operates in north-east Italy, has deployed Microsoft Fabric to transition from its legacy data architecture to a scalable hub-and-spoke model. This will give it data autonomy and prepare the foundations for the rollout of real-time AI solutions.
Agentic AI solution provider BIP xTech helped Volksbank build a future-proof data ecosystem, centralising data governance and allowing business units to innovate independently.
"With Microsoft Fabric, we have initiated a radical change in how the bank interacts with data: moving from fragmented processes and batch-related wait times to a unified platform that makes information accessible, governed, and reusable,” said Marco Varchetta, head of digital transformation and data analytics at Volksbank. “Today, decisions are increasingly based on reliable, shared data, and we are progressively building a true data culture – fostering widespread data awareness and empowering teams with the autonomy to generate value.
With a hybrid low-code/pro-code model, Volksbank is accelerating its time-to-market and building the foundation necessary for enterprise-grade AI. It is utilising a range of Fabric-enabled solutions to overcome institutional challenges including scalability limits, delayed reporting, fragmented data warehouses and batch-based bottlenecks.
BIP xTech says: “the bank has unlocked the next frontier: Agentic AI.” In a report about the Volksbank project, BIP xTech adds: “Volksbank is transitioning from a ‘data-driven’ institution to an ‘autonomous bank’, where data and operations agents work independently to interpret policy and drive business value. This architecture proves that a regional leader can maintain its high-touch local presence while operating with the speed and intelligence of a global digital pioneer.
