Microsoft Wallet to support Mastercard’s Masterpass in 2017

Consumers with Windows 10 devices will soon be able to use Microsoft Wallet to shop at online merchants that accept Masterpass, the omni-channel digital payment service from Mastercard.

From early 2017, Mastercard cardholders will be able to use their Windows 10 phones, tablets and desktops to access Microsoft Wallet, a secure mobile payment system, to shop at the hundreds of thousands of merchants that accept Masterpass.

“With more than 400 million monthly active devices now running Windows 10, the Windows platform represents a great way to reach consumers in the US and around the world,” said Raj Dhamodharan, senior vice president of operating systems and social networks at Mastercard, in a blog post. “Masterpass, which already has multiple layers of security including EMV (Europay, MasterCard, and Visa) standard tokenisation and encryption, will get even more secure with Windows Hello technology. Windows devices offer a versatile computing platform for consumers and we are excited to bring the best payment experience to these devices.”
