IT consulting firm Northdoor and cloud computing expert Skytap have partnered to help businesses move their business-critical workloads and applications to the Microsoft Azure cloud.

The partnership aims to address the many applications, such as those running on IBM i and AIX, that have previously been considered too complicated and expensive to move, helping firms to benefit from fully operating in a cloud environment.

“Holding Gold Status across four different Microsoft Partner categories really helps us stand out from the crowd,” said James Cherry, chief technology officer at Northdoor. “Helping clients migrate applications running on AIX or IBM i to Microsoft Azure with Skytap can make a real difference to our clients and could be a real game changer for them.”

Skytap helps businesses remove the time, risk and expense of rewriting applications to run in the cloud. Skytap also replicates entire data centres in the cloud, provides self-service opportunities for instant access and self-provision, and delivers consumption-based pricing, so customers only pay for the resources used.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Northdoor,” said Neil Holloway, senior vice president of business development at Skytap. “Our solution allows companies to take core business applications into cloud environments and out of their on-premises servers in a secure and cost-efficient manner.

“The expertise and experience of Northdoor consultants helping companies with their cloud migration, plus the relationship they have with both Microsoft and IBM, made them the stand-out choice as a UK partner. We’re looking forward to working with the Northdoor team and helping companies realise the benefits of running all their applications in the cloud.”
