Smart City Expo World Congress
Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) 2022 will take place on 15-17 November at the Gran Via Venue in Barcelona, Spain to gather leaders from business and government to empower cities and drive urban innovation.
By promoting social innovation, establishing partnerships and identifying business opportunities, the event is dedicated to creating a better future for cities and their citizens.
Now in its 11th year, SCEWC will focus on the theme of ‘cities inspired by people’, with sustainability, modern mobility, inclusivity, accessibility, security and safety as key topics.
The event will also be run as a hybrid experience, with a physical event in Barcelona and a digital programme broadcast by Tomorrow.City. As such, the event could reach a wider audience than ever before, with more than 24,000 in-person attendees, 20,000 online attendees, 1,000 exhibitors and 400 speakers expected.
Attendees will be able to explore the congress, a three-day programme to share insights and learn best practices for a more sustainable urban world; the expo, a marketplace where businesses and organisations can showcase their projects and solutions; and side events and activities, that aim to help attendees explore and address the challenges facing modern cities.
“The global population is expected to grow to 10 billion by 2050, and 70 per cent of these people will live in cities,” said a spokesperson for SCEWC. “In 40 years, we will have built as many new cities as in all of human history. The future of humanity is inevitably urban, and digitisation stands as an essential, unstoppable revolution to ensure future-proofed cities focus on people and the environment.
“At the crossroads of technology and cities, there’s an opportunity for a more sustainable and inclusive world. Smart City Expo is the place to spark a powerful urban tomorrow worldwide.”
