A. Baur & Co. (Baurs), an agricultural business group based in Sri Lanka, has expanded its partnership with Microsoft to further its digital transformation. Baurs will migrate its IT infrastructure and SAP mission-critical systems to Microsoft Azure to save money and increase its agility and reliability.
Baurs had already migrated to Microsoft Office 365 in 2018 and leveraged Azure in 2020 but the organisation was keen to move its systems, applications and products from existing data centres to Microsoft’s cloud environment. This enabled Baurs to use its data to improve decision-making, lower costs, simplify its digital environment and support new services more efficiently.

We were also able to lower our reliance on data centres and reduce the costs associated with physical spaces.”
The partnership expansion means that Baurs is also prepared for future migrations.

Going forward, Microsoft will explore solutions with Baurs to support its ecosystem of partners. It will also use AI and cognitive capabilities to automate administrative and predictive processes and reduce waste through co-innovation.
