BPM has implemented Microsoft 365 Copilot across its business to scale AI adoption and build agents capable of helping its tax and assurance teams improve communication, find and share accurate information quickly, and reduce the time spent on tasks.

“It lowers the barrier to asking the right questions,” said Carolyn Cotter, managing director of tax operations at BPM.

Copilot is already helping to deliver productivity at scale, with some tasks that previously took days or weeks now being completed in a single day to the same (or higher) level of quality.

“It’s no longer about what a person can do at a job; it’s what a person can do with the technology at that job,” said Scott Keenan, director of IT delivery and operations at BPM. “That’s where true productivity comes from.”

In addition, Copilot is helping employees better understand and prioritise inbound emails and Teams messages. They are also using it to refine the wording of their own communications with clients.

“Nine times out of ten, I’m using Copilot to refine my messaging – so it says exactly what I want it to say,” said Tony Gales, tax partner at BPM.

To expedite adoption of these agents, BPM worked with Microsoft partner Reply to deliver role-based training for its employees.

BPM also implemented strict governance policies to ensure Copilot is used safely and responsibly. It also followed Microsoft-recommended best practices to prevent Copilot exposing confidential information.

“We couldn’t scale AI responsibly without the governance and consistency Microsoft provides,” said Moe Asgharnia, chief information officer at BPM.
