Microsoft partner Devolutions is empowering IT professionals to set up environments faster, reduce risk and focus on higher-value work with its new Model Context Protocol (MCP) server.
The server, with AI integration in Devolutions’ Remote Desktop Manager (RDM), acts as a gateway for IT administrators to deploy, manage and govern remote access infrastructures, without exposing sensitive credentials to external large language models (LLM). It connects AI assistants like GitHub Copilot with other workflows to streamline routine operations.
Users can automate routine tasks, troubleshoot quickly and use an AI-powered assistant to execute commands across multiple protocols, all without exposing credentials or requiring complex scripting.
“The MCP server positions Devolutions as a pioneer in secure, AI-augmented remote access management,” said David Hervieux, CEO of Devolutions. “Now, routine tasks are automated, context appears instantly, and troubleshooting moves at the speed of thought – so IT teams can focus on what truly matters. At the same time, they maintain full transparency, control and security. It’s a major step forward in building a safer, stronger and more efficient IT world.”
The server delivers a secure, structured and fully traceable framework for AI integration. LLM access is governed so data sharing requires explicit permission and every AI action is logged for full visibility.
“By integrating AI directly into RDM, Devolutions empowers IT teams to complete complex, time-consuming tasks in minutes instead of hours – all while maintaining the strong security foundation that has guided the product’s design from day one,” said Chris Steffen, vice president of research at Enterprise Management Associates, IT research and consulting firm.
Devolutions is a sponsor of Microsoft Ignite and will offer live demonstrations of the MCP serve in RDM at booth #5644
