New survey explores impact of Covid-19 on MSPs and their response to the pandemic
According to a new survey by back-up solution provider Altaro Software, 75 per cent of managed service providers (MSPs) think remote working is the best revenue-generating opportunity, followed swiftly by cloud computing (61%) and security-as-a-service (38%).
The survey also found that 80 per cent of MSPs have retained their staff despite reduced revenues and economic uncertainty caused by Covid-19. Half have a post-Covid-19 recovery plan in place and almost one-third feel that business will return to pre-Covid-19 operation levels by the end of 2020.
Altaro carried out the survey to better understand the impact of Covid-19 on MSPs and their response to the pandemic. The company says that the findings “reveal an MSP industry that continues to evolve and adapt while identifying opportunities to boost revenue and business performance”.
Altaro says that the increased numbers of people working from home has created new opportunities for MSPs, particularly in cloud and IT services. As such, 66 per cent of MSPs interviewed indicated that they plan to expand their product offerings and services.
“MSPs continue to show amazing resilience in the face of economic pressures and uncertainty,” said Stephen Chetcuti Bonavita, chief commercial officer at Altaro. “The demand for IT services continues to grow, especially for backup, and MSPs are making the most of these new opportunities. Challenges remain and their concerns are very real, however, their ability to adapt means the future looks good.”
