Businesses must consider better ways to protect their data against increasingly pervasive threats

Data breaches are on the rise. Passwords – even strong ones – are vulnerable to routine theft and interception and are the cause of 80 per cent of data breaches for businesses, according to a report from Risk Based Security.

Flexible and remote workspaces grew more popular following the pandemic but are much less secure than the traditional workplace. Since passwords are no longer a secure form of authentication, businesses need to adopt enhanced security protocols to adequately protect data.

Kensington’s biometrics introduces another layer of security around identity for organisations, with convenience and scalability. Our VeriMark solutions are highly flexible to enterprise systems and their needs. Organisations can now maximise their Microsoft technology investments to provide a future-proof, fraud-resistant solution that is FIDO-certified and integrates seamlessly with their Azure AD account and federated websites.

Kensington VeriMark Guard and VeriMark Desktop keys use Match-in-Sensor technology to store fingerprint data within the fingerprint key itself – a more secure solution than other multi-factor-authentication options such as one-time password, which can be intercepted by thieves. With VeriMark, we can provide more effective protection for Microsoft-powered businesses, ensuring convenience, security and peace of mind for businesses and employees.

Kensington is constantly innovating to provide best-in-class IT productivity and security products to follow how enterprise IT departments protect their assets. Biometrics eliminates the hassle of passwords and empowers remote and hybrid workforce to securely work from anywhere.

VeriMark’s seamless authentication user experience goes beyond first-point log-in and can be as simple as a touch of a finger, with models available that support Windows Hello and Windows Hello for Business. It can be integrated as part of a strong security protocol for access to internal systems and files, to ensure only the right person is authenticating.

Despite the hesitation to adopt biometrics for enterprise devices, many of us already use it daily with our phones. It’s only natural for biometrics to soon become an extension of any agile workforce wanting to get serious about protecting their data.
