Henkel, a chemical products manufacturer headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany, has made the leap to the cloud with Office 365.
Specialising in laundry and home care, beauty care and adhesive technologies, Henkel has a broad stable of products and technologies that are used by consumers and industries in 75 countries worldwide.
“Henkel always strives to be best-in-class,” said Joachim Jaeckle, Henkel’s senior corporate vice president of IT. “To achieve that goal we need to be proactive in adopting technology to deliver a modern workplace. The world is connected as never before, and we need to connect our people, our partners, and our customers to be successful.”
Previously, Henkel’s aging IT infrastructure and productivity tools were failing to enable cohesive, fast-moving communication and collaboration between the company’s 47,000 employees. The decision was taken to invest in Microsoft’s Office 365 offering.
Jaeckle said: “To simplify the environment we decided to take a huge leap forward and invest in the cloud rather than upgrading existing systems.”
“When you are delivering new technology like this, you have to go for it,” said Markus Petrak, Henkel’s corporate director of Integrated Business Solutions. “We had to move fast and communicate well to make the change as easy as possible.”
Thanks to Office 365, Henkel has boosted productivity and connectivity across all departments.
“A simplified, mobile way of working is a must-have,” Petrak said. “We have employees who are working outside, who are working with our customers.”
“They want to use different channels to connect,” added Jaeckle. “They want to be able to see who they are talking to and they want to work from anywhere. These are the capabilities we need to deliver long-term success.”
