Microsoft counts down to launch of new Lumia devices

Microsoft is expected to officially unveil new Windows 8.1 Phones, including the Lumia 730 and Lumia 830, ahead of the upcoming consumer electronics tradeshow IFA 2014, taking place in Berlin later this week.

In an invitation on its Conversations blog, Microsoft is encouraging people to join it for a “very special webcast” live from Berlin, Germany on 4 September at 10am CET. With the headline ‘Ready for #MoreLumia?’, the invitation includes an image of a group selfie, adding to speculation that one of its new handsets (probably the Lumia 730) will have a five megapixel front-facing camera.

Although no specs have been released for either of the handsets, both are expected to be mid-range offerings, serving as successors to the Nokia Lumia 720.

We’ll be reporting live from the webcast, so check back on 4 September to find out more.
