AI business Anthropic has added new tools, connectors and skills to its AI assistant Claude, available in Microsoft Foundry, to bring advanced reasoning, agentic workflows, and model intelligence to the healthcare and life sciences organisations.

For healthcare, Claude now provides a set of domain-specific model intelligence tools and resources to help manage medical and operational workflows. Use cases include qualifying prior authorisation requests, supporting claims appear processing and coordinating patient care and triage.

In life sciences, new components accelerate every aspect of the research and development lifecycle, connecting Claude to more scientific platforms and enabling it to generate more consistent, high quality experimental and clinical protocols. Claude can be used, for example, to draft clinical trial protocols and prepare regulatory submissions.

“Organisations need AI that does more than generate text. They need AI that understands medical and scientific complexity, reasons across multi-step workflows, and can be deployed responsibly at enterprise scale,” said Steve Sweetman, Azure product lead, Foundry Models, at Microsoft, in a blog post on the Microsoft website.
